….. Gail she helped me go to high school at a time that i was having problems going to high school. I am happy. Thanks to Gail and YTA for bringing helpful people.”
Gail went to Kenya in February 2016 and was part of a great group of people. Below is a poem written by Gail about her experience.
My time with the Younite project
Was both amazing and sad
Could not believe
living could be this hard
Yet the children we met
We’re so full of glee
And just so happy to play with my friends and me
With ragged clothes and so little to eat
Some with no shoes to cover their feet
No cries were heard when they got hurt
They just got up and brushed off the dirt.
So talented and happy they gave us so much
With their singing and our welcome
Our hearts were touched
They wanted to learn and loved to play
And were all sad to leave school at the end of the day
Ten great friends I made along the way
We bonded while we painted, taught, cooked and played
Many different skills we put in the pot
Which made us a rather awesome lot!!
I sponsored Virginie to help her on her way
To a successful life, hopefully one day
So she can take her family out of the slums
And maybe for once, have full tums.
So my advice to you is too give it a try
Sign up for a trip, although it will make you cry
You won’t regret it, this I can guarantee
Then you can spread the message,
Just like me!!!
